Here are some tips for
when you apply for UK Insurance:
1. Insurance is based on risk the way in which no claims bonuses work
is the risk is reduced based on he numbers of years tha tyou have not
made a claim, if you can reduce the risk of your car being involved with
a claim then your policy could reduce in price as well. Consider having
an alarm fitted by an approved alarm company or have a tracker fitted.
2. The amount of mile that you travel in your car also effects the amount
of your policy, if you can reduce this for example by travelling less,
sharing journeys or possibly walking instead of driving.
3. If you have not already got a full no claims bonus allowence then
I would reccomend that you have a look into the Rapid Bonus Policies
that are available as you will be able to increases your no claims quicker
by taking out a policy shorter than 12 months for example 9 months.
4. Legal Protection, Courtesy Cars and protecting your no claims bonus
all add to the price of your insurance policy, some insurers will give
you the option whether you want to include these in your policy some
will not, by not taking legal protection a courtesy car and not protecting
your no claims you can sometimes save upto £100. Depending on your circumstances
you may want to take these options but it is really up to you if these
options will be of benefit.
5. Almost all insurers include excess on polices some will include a
mandatory excess for young drivers, many insurers allow you to choose
the amount of excess that you pay. There are not that many insurers that
will allow you to increase the excess above £500. Norwich Union Direct
allow you to increase the excess upto £1000, the amount of excess you
pay can dramatically effect the price of your policy.
